Pen Magazine / August 2020 issue

8月17日発売の雑誌『Pen』の特集記事「21世紀・写真論」に拙作を掲載して頂きました。

この特集は21世紀に入って20年の間に世界各国の写真家が発表した膨大な写真作品の中から、各年毎に一作品ずつ選んで現代写真を振り返るというものです。

監修は何必館・京都現代美術館のキュレーター梶川 由紀さん。

ロバート・フランクから始まって、セバスチャン・サルガド、ニック・ブラント、トーマス・ルフ、東松照明さん、荒木経惟さん、森山大道さん川田喜久治さんなどなど錚々たる面々ばかりの中に自分が入るのはかなり場違いであるとは誰よりも承知なのですが、2017年枠に拙作「The Absence of Two」を恐れ多くも選出して頂きました。

この特集の他にも、報道写真やファッション写真、写真集の特集もあって、写真尽くしの一冊となっています。是非ご覧下さい。

My work was featured in a special article “21st Century Photography” in the August 17th issue of the magazine “Pen”.
This special feature looks back at contemporary photography by selecting one work for each year from the vast amount of photographic works published by photographers around the world in the first 20 years of the 21st century.
It was supervised by Yuki Kajikawa, curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Kyoto.
I know better than anyone else that it is quite out of place for me to be included in such a distinguished group of people, starting with Robert Frank, Sebastião Salgado, Nick Brandt, Thomas Ruf, Shomei Tomatsu, Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, and Kikuji Kawada, but I would like to introduce my work “The Absence of Two” in 2017. I know better than anyone else that it is quite out of place for me to be included in such a distinguished group.
In addition to this feature, there are also features on news photography, fashion photography, and photo books, making this a book full of photography. Please take a look.
